The Nespresso By De’Longhi Espresso Maker

The Nespresso By De’Longhi Espresso Maker

Have you tried to, but failed at, making Italian style espresso at home?  Do you have fond memories of sipping espresso at a sidewalk café in Italy and have wanted to duplicate that wonderful flavor at home?  You could invest a few thousand dollars in a complicated espresso maker and then take a few hundred hours to learn how to use it.  Or, you could take a smart shortcut and look for a home espresso maker and some good coffee to use to recreate that fabulous Italian espresso.

Espresso purists will tell you that you can’t make espresso without a complicated espresso machine, forcing a small amount of water through tightly packed ground coffee.  For the most part, they are correct but often there is not an espresso machine at hand and you want an espresso.  Forget the purists for a moment and look at another option.  That would be a Nespresso machine, a small espresso and coffee maker that uses special espresso pods to create very tasty cups of espresso.

Nespresso By De’Longhi Espresso Maker

Nespresso machines are made by a few different manufacturers, but I really like the one made by De’Longhi.  It’s a very versatile unit and is priced well under $200, far less than a deluxe Keurig K-cup machine or a standard espresso maker.  Even though it is a single serve espresso maker, you have the option of choosing the size drink that you want to make.  The unit heats the water quickly, then does a great job of keeping it just the right temperature.  Making a good cup of espresso is quite easy as the pods (also known as k-cups) are design for espresso brewing.  The coffee is ground very fine and packed tightly, forcing the water to spend more time in the pod, with the result being an intense coffee flavor.  Every kitchen needs a good coffee maker and having a quality espresso machine is a plus as a good kitchen tool.

Espresso Pod InformationAnother great feature of the Nespresso machine is the ability to know what type of coffee is being brewed and how to adjust it to your taste.  While the pods come in many flavors (none contain milk and all of the packaging is recyclable), it is nice to tweak each cup to your whim.

Easy To Use, Easy To Clean

Cleaning any coffee maker or espresso machine can be a challenge, but dirty machines make dirty coffee.  This unit is surprisingly easy to clean.  The water tank removes quickly and the brewing head can be cleaned with a damp cloth.  There is little mess from the pods and the entire unit can be wiped down in seconds.

Is this going to make the best espresso you have ever had?  Probably not, but it will make a pretty good cup of espresso.  Don’t let the purists shame you into buying a $1000 espresso machine when you can treat yourself to a satisfying cup of espresso made with the Nespresso by De’Longhi espresso maker.
